    Hi,

Was looking to see if anyone had any suggestions on best practice setup on the instant wireless devices. Looking to lock down our office wireless access with the new device and seeing if anyone had any suggestions.  Mac authentication is one option we are looking at but the feature won't seem to enable.

    Thanks

    Hi,

It is available, you need to select Security level as "Personal" then select MAC authentication enable.

    Please ignore the prev post.

Please select security level as "Open" and then select MAC authentication enabled.

    Thanks Venu,

When I got to the new network and choose securirty, it still shows MAC Authentication as disable but I hit edit it matches the screen shot that you sent me.  Also, what user to I add in?  I created myslef as a user, is that the correct thing to do?

    Thanks again

    HI,

You have to enter the client MAC address as username and password in the local database as shown bellow,

    1. Click on Internal server (USer 1)

    IAP AMC auth2.JPG

    2. Enter the MAC address of all those Clients to whom you want to allow (username and password should be same)

    Hope got the clarity.

    Thanks Venu,

    Just to clarify:

I just need to add a new user.  In the userame field and password field I just need to enter in the Mac address of the device in both fields.  Is that correct?

    Thanks

    Yes My friend,

Username and Password should be the MAC address of the client you want to allow.

    Thanks All,

    That did it.

    Another question though

How do I assign static IP addresses to our devices?

I don't believe the IAP has the ability to assign a static IP address. You would need to use a DHCP Helper which has this function.
