I have an Aruba 325 IAP which has two ethernet interfaces enet 1 and enet 2. 

The IAP is powered through an POE switch on enet 1,

when I connect my laptop to the 2nd ethernet interface: enet 2, the ethernet interface on my laptop is not even coming up. What can I do to have the 2nd ethernet interface on IAP as up, so that I can access it the GUI of IAP?

I don't have the luxury to connect my laptop directly to the switch to access the IAP, so would want to go it through enet 2 of IAP itself.

Kindly help in knowing how this could be accomplished.

Can you confirm what power is being supplied to the IAP, if it is 802.3af the IAP will run in reduced functionality mode, which disables the 2nd Ethernet interface. You should be able to see the neogtiated POE via a console output when the AP first boots up.

You may also have a wired interface profile configured which does not allow access on the interface.

The switch powering the IAP is POE-at.

Is there a means to verify the power that an IAP acquired from the switch?

It could be done by issue  of "show power inline" from switch, however curious to know is there any means to get the info from the IAP itself.

Hey,  get the tech support from the Instant AP and search for "Power Status".  You should be able to see the rate from here.

If you attach a console cable and reboot the IAP, you will also see it during the inital boot up.

Want to attach the tech-support to this thread and we can take a look?

I am not able to get the info as to what is the power obtained by IAP. Attached the complete "tech support" in attachment for your reference.

Hey, looks like it is running POE-AF, so that is the reason why your 2nd ethernet port is down.

Is LLDP enabled on the switch and configured correctly?

The IR-829 on which I am having the Aruba AP connected on says that it delivered the power of 30 mW. But still the AP is coming up in power save mode.

Today I connected an 315 campus AP. The power status from IR is as shown below.

But still I see the system status as: Amber

and Radio status as: Solid green.

As the radio status is any how positive: solid green, will I be able to associate wireless clients to it?

Ethernet Switch Network Modules with PoE support should be reloaded to function
 properly upon PoE Power Supply OIR insertion/removal.

Hey, do you have the option on your switch to show lldp neighbours (or equivalent)? Does this show what the switch believes is connected to the physical port where you have plugged your IAP?

I have seen previously on a customers site that the correct power is being supplied but due to some correct LLDP configuration on the switch the power status was not being correctly advertised.

Solid green radio LED suggests the radio is operating as normally.

Hey, a couple of things. Do any other 802.3at devices attached to the switch negotiate to that power setting? If you investigate the LLDP on the switch, can you confirm that the switch sees the device vendor for the IAP as Aruba (sorry I don't know the Cisco command).

Reboot the AP and provide the console output, this will tell you the POE powering being negotiated.

Have you also tried upgrading the IAP to the latest release as well?
