Can it really be true that you cannot add the new IAP303 Ap's to a IAP205 cluster as the former only runs 8.3.x.x firmware or later, and IAP205 was already declared EOL on 6.5.4.x? That's a VERY shart lifespan of the IAP205 AP's then.

Will I then have to form two clusters in each their VLAN?

That just seems like a ludicrous decision from Aruba.

We are talking about two AP's that are one generation apart, both are 802.11ac AP's and they cannot be in the same cluster? talk about confusing your customers....

I know I'll have a hard time explaining it to my costumers that two years old 205's are already "unsupported" in installations that needs expanding.

You seem to be just a bit unlucky as if you had picked the 215 or 225, it could have been upgraded to Instant 8; if you had picked a 305, 315, 325, 335 to expand your cluster those could have run on 6.5. Also in a controller environment you could mix and match between the 205 and 303.

I can tell you that there have been significant efforts on running the 8.x Instant firmware on the 205, but the device just could not handle it with the resources it has. The AP-205 was released 4 years ago as an entry-level access-point. I understand your disappointment nevertheless.

You could work with your partner or Aruba account team as they might be able to offer a swap/exchange or so.
