    Hi Folks,

I'm new to the Aruba system and have a slight problem that I'm not sure what I doing wrong and was hoping for some advice.

I initially had 34 APs licensed and connected to a W-7210 - all working fine.  Phase 1 of a larger roll-out.

I have purchased two additional APs and all the correct licenses.  These licenses have been activated and added to the controller.  I can see under network > controller > license management that the number of APs has increased from 34 to 36. As has the "RF Protect" and "Next Generation Policy Enforcement...." both show 36 now.

However when I go to the configuration > AP installation > provisioning page I cannot see the new APs.

I hasten to add that the APs are correctly plugged into the network and I can trace the devices' MAC address across the network.

Is there something else that needs to be done to the controller etc that would enable it to find and configure these two new APs?

I should point out that I haven't yet rebooted the controller, perhaps I should?

    Hope someone can advise.

    Many thanks

    Mark

    Tea_Monkey,

You should go on the commandline of the controller and type "show ap database" to see if you see those new access points, at all.

If they can find the controller and there is a problem, you will them, along with a flag indicating as such..

    Thanks cjoseph,

Done that but its not being seen.  I am able to ping the AP's IP address from the controller so I know the AP is functioning on the network fine.

Are those access points in a different location than the others?

What are they using to discover the controller? DNS?  DHCP option?

DHCP - exactly the same scope as all of the other APs

I would type "show log system 50" to see if there is any reference to those access points.

I would also type "show datapath session table <ip address of access point>" to see if any traffic from that access point is hitting the controller.

I would also consider plugging in a console cable to the access point during bootup to see what is happening.

It appears that the AP is booting up into Instant Access mode.

Well you need to convert it:  https://arubanetworkskb.secure.force.com/pkb/articles/HowTo/R-1454

You need to make sure your controller is on ArubaOS 6.2 and above...

    version 6.3.1.2_41362

It was only installed 4 weeks ago!

Told you I was new to this.  Oh, it was installed by an Aruba Professional not by me! I'm just the administrator who forgot to ask the questions about adding new APs!
