Hi

We are in the process of setting up Aruba.

 

I'm setting this up at the moment and I'm finding the 515 access points will only use 802.3af POE instead of POE+.

We are using Cisco 9300-48P which does have POE+ (Its not full UPOE), but I was told that these should all work with these.

 

Are there any settings that I have missed so that these are not working on power save mode?

Do you have LLDP configured on that Cisco port?  That is how it communicates increased power.

It is already enabled but still some AP's 515 is orange blinking (save mode) and  i need to disable this mode how i can do it 

 

FYI , I checked the power consumed per port from the cisco switch and i found it is about 29.5 w so the AP is consumed the full power so it is still orange blinking 

perhaps uplink Ethernet negotiated is not 1GE.

lastly there might be some IPM restriction that were configured.

It is 1 g because this problem occured in some ap’s and the others are ok and i tried to ma oh e the port of the switch 1000 M and duplex full but the sane issue ,,, these ap’s taken full power but blinking orange ( power saving)

How i know there is restrictions ipm configuration but how some Ap’s is ok dnd the others is not

is this an Instant AP or controller based AP?

It is controlling by WLC controller 8.5

you can check if IPM is enabled or any IPM restrictions are configured.

IPM is under ap system-profile menu.

You mean in the wlc page ,,, ap system-profile menu ,,, ipm feature ,,, it should enable or disable?

yes thats where you can confgure all the controller based APs.

if you have MM, then you need to check it from there other wise directly from the standalone controller.

Ok i will check it from the wlc but the ipm should be enabler or not?

From the ap-515 datasheets...
- disable IPM on 802.3af is not supported!

When powered by 802.3af (class 3) PoE and with the IPM feature enabled, the AP will start up in unrestricted mode, but it may apply restrictions depending on the PoE budget and actual power. What IPM restrictions to apply, and in what order, is programmable.
• Operating the AP with an 802.3af (class 3 or lower) PoE source and IPM disabled is not supported.

So what i can do for the ipm feature if it is enabled by default ?

IPM is not enabled by default. I suggest to first check if it is enabled or not.

Also check if the AP is also stating the correct PoE power by using this commond from the Aruba controller.
