I hope someone can help me as I have an entire floor of a building with no wireless right now.

Brand new 535s connect to the controller but interface up/down every so many minutes. LLDP shows nothing but very basic information. APs show 15.4W pull on power. They don't seem to allow clients on. I've tried a bunch of things, but I don't want to muddy the troubleshooting process in case I botched something. Please Help!

They’re connected to a Cisco 3850-48U switch. There’s two separate switch stacks that several APs are connected to. In one switch, we’ve got some APs that are functional (this just happened with no interference on my part after I posted). Those APs look similar to this when you do a show lldp neighbor detail.

    Chassis id: 004e.35c4.d508

    Port id: 004e.35c4.d508

There are other APs on this same switch that look like this:

    Chassis id: 004e.35c4.d898

    Port id: 004e.35c4.d898

    Port Description: eth0

    Auto Negotiation - not supported

Physical media capabilities - not advertised

Media Attachment Unit type - not advertised

    Vlan ID: - not advertised

All APs get IP addresses and have been provisioned by the controller/Mobile Manager. The ones that have the first LLDP information function. The ones with the shorter LLDP information does not. The other switch stack has no functional APs on it. The one with some functional APs is running 03.06.00E code, the other one, we just upgraded to 16.12.3a.

Are these brand new like out of the box? I ran into what sounds like the same issue with 535s out of the box on Cisco switches, for whatever reason they could NOT get DHCP IP addresses, thus the reboot loops. I had to take them back down, plug them to a different switch, they started working, got updated code from our controller, then I could move them back to the original switches again. So there is some compatibility issues with some versions of the 535s and Cisco hardware/software. In my case also happens on some 2960-Xs. So my suggestion would be try them on a different switch hardware/software combo until you get them to work, and hopefully whatever controller software you are running won't have the same problem. Otherwise you might have to start playing with Cisco IOS versions to find the right mix.

Out of the box. They get IPs, they upgraded themselves, they have been provisioned by Mobile Manager, they show that they should be working, but don't and reset the interface every 5 to 8 minutes or so.

Great so now some are working and some aren't for no apparent reason? I love those issues.

What code version? We were probably on 8.5.0.4 or 8.5.0.6 when we rolled those out and as soon as they upgraded they started working. Out of the box they were probably on 8.5.0.0.

Yep. On the non-upgraded switch I have 6 out of 9 working. On the upgraded switch 0 of 9. I did nothing to make the six work. I don't have access to the code number right now, but it's relatively new

Sorry folks. In the years that I've worked in IT, I've learned that coincidence almost never exists. I got bit by it this time.

We've been rolling out new APs. This error started just as we started a new building populated with switches that we've never connected Aruba APs to. What are the odds, right? The Mobile Manager didn't have any warnings for this issue and so it just appeared to be a LLDP discovery problem.

It wasn't. It was a licensing issue. Either my predecessor had forgotten to install the licenses, or the emails got lost in the shuffle of me taking over.

Sorry for the false alarm. Thanks for all of the assistance.
