In one of our Aruba controller, we have installed permanent license of 155 APs and temporary license of 512. The total number of connected and up APs are 155. Now we connected 1 more AP but this AP is not becoming up even in the presence of both permanent and temporary licenses. Please advise what we need to do to make this 156th AP “up”.

    Type "show keys".

If you also have policy enforcement licenses or RF Protect Licenses, those licenses must match and also exceed 155 to allow you to connect more APs.

Okay.  Then you must add either temporary or permanent PEF and RF protect licenses to allow the 156 AP to connect.

That depends on your region.  How did you purchase your Aruba products initally?

Do you know if there any plans to change this requirement about having the same number of AP, PEF, and RFProtect licenses?   RFProtect might provide some useful features, but it also has costs......especially when you are dealing with close to 1000 access points.

We were previously recommended that would could purchase a handful of licenses to use as needed - times that we might to need to spectrum analysis or air monitoring in locations several states away.

We never did end up purchasing those, but management has warmed to that idea lately......although I'll have no chance of getting those if I need to purchase them in a 1 for 1 format.......unless the pricing has changed with the move to HPE.

How many AP/PEF/RFP licenses do you currently have installed ?
Are the Aps attached to the Master or Local ?
Where are you installing the licenses ? on the Master or Local ?
