    Hello people,

i'm facing this problem..My standalone controller with 4 ap directly connected, they were "down" for an unknow reason and i've commit a Purge command in Campup Whitelist.

    Control plane security is disabled.

After reboot, no ap is present (no "up" , no "down" , no under "campus ap whitelist"...)

Checking configuration, now i can see on default vlan there's DHCP = none

This is incorrect! My 4 ap takes ip from network dhcp (...12.101)

Trying to set up it again, but nothing to do! There's ever DHCP = none, also after reboot and writing config

    Can u help me please?

    aruba 6.0.1.0

    thanks!

    Nanoweb

Can you upgrade the code on your controller to the latest?  6.0.1.0 is much older and could have issues saving the DHCP scope.

i think upgrading release is really important, but now i can't.

(can u provide a link with detailed information to upgrade release?)

to modify dhcp setting for default vlan, the only way is do CONTROLLER WIZARD?

cannot manually (or by command line) modify dhcp setting for vlan1, is possible?

    Thanks..

Yes, you can manually modify the DHCP setting.  On the controller go to Configuration> Network> IP.  There will be a DHCP server tab.

i think there is possible only for other Vlan, no for NATIVE VLAN...

To upgrade you have to visit the support.arubanetworks.com site and login with your credentials.

The files will be there to a) upgrade and b) walk you through the procedure to do so (its 5 mouseclicks or less)

Once you have upgraded I would recommend re-tackling this item.

just to clarify are you trying to get DHCP from an external server on your network, or make the controller into a DHCP server for your directly connected APs ?

Hi, thanks for ur time and sorry, I'm in late...

Proble is maybe effect of PURGE command with ap connected for my 4 ap.

Clicking by PURGE button there was a warning , something like "no commit with ap connected!!"

    I've clicked same...   :-(

Now i have fear ap are in bad status, so after software upgrade for controller, if problem persist, i need to reset my aps!!

Can i use ethernet cable instead consolle cable to perform a reset?

Where i can find info to perform an ap reset?

You can only use the console cable to reset.  Do NOT use the purge command.

Configure your console at 9600, N, 8,1 and plug into the console port of the access point.

Interrupt the boot cycle when it says "press enter...."

At the commandline type "purge" press enter  then type "save" and press enter.

Problem is I've already performed a PURGE command by gui for all my 4 aps!!!!

Until that moment aps get an ip from external dhcp on network

no ap in campus whitelist, no ap everywhere

no saving "relay to external dhcp" option in controller wizard

    Okay.

Do not use the wizard for now.

You want to relay DHCP information to an external DHCP server.  is this to provide ip addresses to the access points?  Can you describe your topology to me?

    network 192.168.15.0

    controller (vlan1) 192.168.15.25

    dhcp server 192.168.15.5

relay to external dhcp works until my purge command!

ap receveid correctly an ip from scpo 192.168.15.22 - 25

now using wizard relay to external option is nt saved!

if i save and write config, then start wizard again, in dhcp for vlan1 i can find "none" and no "relat to external on 192.168.15.5"

    Thank you.

if you have a DHCP server on the same subnet as the controller and the access points, you do NOT need a relay.  A relay is ONLY needed if your DHCP server is not on the same subnet.

Try turning off control plane security:

Configuration> Control Plane Security> Disabled.  Apply.

Purge only removes access point entries from a whitelist.

If you do not have control plane security enabled, the whitelist does not matter.

Console into your APs and keep pressing enter while they boot up until you are at the "apboot>" prompt.

When you are at that prompt, type "purge", then "save", then "boot".

You should see them in the controller in a few minutes.

The best thing you can do is SSH into the controller so we can get detailed information about what is going on.

SSH into the controller;  get into enable mode, then type "show log system 50" and display the output.

The logs do not say anything.  Is there any way to power-cycle the access points?  can you see from the DHCP server if they are getting an ip address?

    no evidence on dhcp server.

ap are not receiving a valid ip.

    why the warning in attachment?

When did you turn off control plane security?  A device would only end up in there, if control plane security is on.  Are the access points on the same layer2 VLAN as the controller?  Can you power cycle them so that they can get a new ip address.

    The warning only applies if:

    - you have control plane security on

    Okay.

You should not have to reboot the controller.  If an AP power cycled, it should show up in "show log system" output.  Did the access points have static ip addresses or did they use DHCP?  At minimum, they should be requesting an ip address if they are power cycled....

If it does not show up on the controller, you would need to power cycle the AP manually by unplugging it.
