    Hi everyone,

I got 2 Aruba controllers with ArubaOS v.6.5.2.1 and i have a problem.

I setup VRRP and i see is working, but once my master controller is back online it will show the status as a Backup-Standby controller. The virtual router priority is set value 100 for the Master and 110 for the Standby controller.

I can see there is some other settings for "Tracking VRRP Master State ID" and "Tracking VRRP Master State Priority" in the Edit Virtual router menu... do I need to set those parameter in order to set a priority for the Master controller to be the master once this controller is back online?

    Thanks.

You need to set the preempt parameter for a device to take over control from a device that already has control of the vrrp.

    Hi Joseph,

Thanks for your quick answer, i see some documents said 100 for master and 110 for local, and others 110 for master ( High value for priority) and 100 for local...

Can you tell me which statement is correct?

For Example here it said "Set master to 110 and set backup to 100"

    http://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/ArubaOS_61/ArubaOS_61_UG/VRRP.php

and the one you just sent me you can read:

For priority: Set the local to 110; set the master to 100 (the default value).

    Thanks,

    Thanks.

The link I sent says this:

For priority: Set the master to 110; set the backup to 100 (the default value)

The device you want to have control of the VRRP just needs to have a higher priority.
