Does anyone know what options are available for client network DHCP with an ArubaOS 8 cluster? The documentation is a bit light on whether we can configure a DHCP server (say for guest users) and how this will be handled with a cluster.
Is DHCP relay an option when using Clustering?
With a cluster, you should 100% bridge user traffic to the switching infrastructure and let the infrastructure provide dhcp.
Thanks, thought this may be the case
This is slightly more of a challenge for guest type networks that use a firewall cluster for next hop, but not impossible.
Have all controllers bridge that traffic to the firewall's guest VLAN. Have the firewall NAT the traffic on that VLAN. Done.
Yep, the clients would still need to get an IP address from somewhere though.
A firewall cluster would need to be configured to perform DHCP relay, which is not always desirable from a customer's perspective.
The customer should always design within the confines of the products that they select. If a customer's infrastructure has no way to provide DHCP and natting for a VLAN on a cluster, maybe they only need a single controller and not a cluster.
