working on a ArubaOS 8.2 environment and looking to add some destinations (GUI 6.x Advanced Services > Stateful Firewall > Destinations and CLI: netdestination). All references in documentation point to this being CLI only now. is that indeed the case? or am i overlooking it in the GUI?

actually it is sort of possible :)

when you edit an ACL and select the Alias option you are then presented with a list of the Destinations and can modify them in the GUI.

it would be nice if they are directly editable and it isn't the easiest way to manage a large list, but it is sort of possible.

Bizarre. Not sure why this was on the top of my recent posts lists (since May 2018). But some good news as figured I'd mention that NetDestination and NetServices Alias can now be configured using Aruba OS 8.4.X.X WebUI. :-)
