    Hello,

Trying to increase performance and decrease interference, we are trying to configure band-steering in only one building.

All AP are AP61, and we are running AOS 6.3.1.3, we have noticed that any AP has changed to 5GHz band, so the question is what are the conditions to change from 2.4GHz to 5GHz, if one AP 61 listen for probes on 2.4 Ghz band  and 5 GHz band from clients, does it choose 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz ?

    Thank you

AP-61s are single radio APs (either 802.11a or 802.11b/g).   The decision of which band to go on is not a function of band-steering; it is configured in the AP System Profile under RF Band (choices are a or g).

I supposed band steering was supported by AP61 (single radio dual band), so it could be capable of changing band.

    Please could you confirm that??.

Is band steering only designed to dual radio dual band AP or does it work for single radio dual band AP??

    Thank you

Band steering will only work with dual radio APs (not single radio/dual band).    It can't steer clients to one band or another if the AP is only configured for one band.
