These days it is barely needed to manually install drivers, so if you are not a long term Windows user (I'm feeling old ;-), you may not be familiar with the procedure.
Go in the Device Manager, from there find the unrecognized device under the 'Other Devices' and with the yellow warning sign on top of it, open properties for that device, click 'Update Driver', then 'Browse my computer for drivers' and point to the directory/folder where you extracted the ZIP file you downloaded.
That is the directory where you have the .inf files (ftdibus.inf and ftdiport.inf). From there it should recognize the device and install the drivers.

Subject: Console Port on AP-515 no response?
I've downloaded this driver from ASP, but there are no release notes, no instructions, and no .exe files in the Zip. Can anyone help us with this?

Sorry to ask, but making sure: did the customer install the driver, resulting in an active COM port when the cable is plugged in?
