    i have a Controller ( 3200 )

currently carrying the maximum APs : 32 AP

i will get LIC for RAPs  ( 128 RAP )

is there any limitation that this Cobtroller will carry both  32*AP & 128 RAP  simultaneously ?

    #3200

Unfortunatetly you can't run it simultaneously

For 4 RAPs licenses  you will be using 1 Campus AP license.

@Telnet-1;   vfabian is right.   You cannot simultaneously use 128 RAPs and 32 CAPs.    You can have all sorts of combinations of both RAPs and Campus APs, but you cannot exceed the platform limit; in this case the 32 APs .    You'd need to do some math, but for simplicity, consider each RAP 1/4 of a Campus AP.    For example, you could have 30 Campus APs and 8 RAPs.   Or 20 Campus APs and 48 RAPs.   etc......

Ok , i understood Limits now

    what about licenses ?

    let's assume i will have 4 AP + 4 RAP  , will i need  4* AP LIC  + 1* AP LIC  ......   or   4* AP LIC   + 4* RAP LIC    .......   or  4*AP LIC + 1* AP LIC  +  4* RAP LIC   ?

So if you get 4 AP licenses you will get 16 RAPs licenses

The 4:1 ratio is for sizing/capacity only.    For licensing, you need an AP license for every AP, whether it is a campus, remote, or mesh AP.  Your example of 4 AP + 4 RAPs would require a total of 8 AP licenses.

    Hi clembo ,

    You said :

"Your example of 4 AP + 4 RAPs would require a total of 8 AP licenses."

does this mean i will need no RAP LIC at all ?

There is no "RAP" specific license anymore, only AP licenses.

    LIC-32-RAP
    LIC-48-RAP
    LIC-64-RAP
    LIC-128-RAP
    LIC-256-RAP

That is for pre ArubaOS 5.x.  The pricelist should have columns to the right that say 5.x and 3.x and an appropriate "yes" or "no".  If you are running 3.x, then yes, you'd need RAP licenses.

    Thansk  alot

so you mean that i shouldnot use RAP LIC , i got it

i shall use only AP LIC , so if i have 4 RAP i will  get 4 AP LIC

but if so , what is the meaning of saying that controller can have 128 RAP while it can have  only 32 AP LIC ?

I believe if you bought a LIC-X-RAP license, you can still assign it to a controller's serial number in the licensing portal.  Then, when you view the certificates; select the "Post 5.0" option from the drop down.  I believe your RAP license will be convereted to an AP license.   I don't have a license to check with, but seem to remember this for customers back during 3.x to 5.x upgrades.

A 3200 controller has an Campus AP capacity of 32.  A Remote AP capacity of 128.  You can load up to 128 AP licenses on the controller for use of both Campus and Remote APs.  However, for calculation of the capacity, you need to use the formula mentioned ealier.    1 CAP = 4 RAP.    This is purelfy for the sizing, not licensing.

    Assume Campus AP = X
    Assume Remote AP = Y

You can have any number of combinations, so long as X + (4 * Y) is less than or equal to 128 (for the 3200).

    4 RAP = 1 AP license
