    Dear Members,

We have two 72xx series controller in master-standby deployment. We are thinking to create an L3 architecture. In this case the controller will be the default gateway. We have 100+ client VLANs.

If we deploy L3 architecture than the controllers' VRRP have to be present in each VLAN. Is it any hard limit how many VRRP address can the controllers have?

Thank you for your answer in advance.

#1 - Why do you have 100 VLANs?  That is very rare

#2 - If you have 100 VLANs, you should let an external device be the default gateway so that you do not have to make the controller manage network connectivity.

    Hi cjoseph,

Thank you for your answer. We use a large number of VLANs because of a large network, and we have to separate those VLANs.

We thought to set a router to be the defatult gateway (instead of a controller); but we just wanted to know what are the possibilities, if we choose the controller as a default gateway.

You can use a controller, but you want the controller to do what it does good, which is WLAN.  You should hand it off to your wired network which is good for doing things like routing and switching...
