Is there a way to dis able the Spanning Tree on a Mobility Controller 7008 AOS 8.2.

The problem that I am having is that every time I connect this to the switch the Switch shuts the port down and therefore I can’t connect the MC to the MM. I believe that this is due to Spanning Tree.

I can’t shut down BPDU on the Switch the engineer who has access to the switch won’t turn it off.

Spanning Tree is executing the IEEE compatible Rapid Spanning Tree protocol
Bridge Identifier has priority 32768, address 20:4c:03:21:ad:0c
Configured hello time 2, max age 20, forward delay 15
We are the root of the spanning tree
Topology change flag is not set , detected flag not set , changes 0
Times: hold 1, topology change 35 hello 2, max age 20, forward delay 15
    Timers: hello 0, notification 0
Last topology change: 0 days, 20 hours, 21 mins, 31 secs

Are you using a Mobility Master to manage the controller ? Or this is standalone controller ?

    Thank you

    Hi Victor

Yes, I am using a Mobility Master which is a Virtual Machine.

the switch I am going through is a Cisco switch.

I have setup the Mobility Controller to connect to the Mobility Master but i have found that the Spanning Tree is what is causing the Cisco Switch to block the port.

    Thanks in advance

    Grant

You can disable STP under Manage Network > System > More

    Thank you

You can disable STP on a per port basis. Just use the 'no spanning-tree' interface subcommand.

    #AirheadsMobile

To fully disable spanning-tree on the controller from the CLI:

    (Aruba7005-1) (config) #no spanning-tree
    (Aruba7005-1) (config) #exit
    (Aruba7005-1) #show spanning-tree
    Spanning-Tree is disabled

Thanks to all that have replied.

I have tried to use the CLI and Web Interface but to no avail.

the MC has been set to be controlled by a MM.

this is the response I get from the MC in CLI

    (Aruba7008) ^(config) #no spanning-tree
    (Aruba7008) ^(config) #exit
    (Aruba7008) ^#show spanning-tree

Spanning Tree is executing the IEEE compatible Rapid Spanning Tree protocol
Bridge Identifier has priority 32768, address 20:4c:03:21:ad:0c
Configured hello time 2, max age 20, forward delay 15

Topology change flag is not set , detected flag not set , changes 1
Times: hold 1, topology change 35 hello 2, max age 20, forward delay 15
    Timers: hello 0, notification 0
Last topology change: 0 days, 19 hours, 27 mins, 53 secs

would it work if I factory reset the MC.

then disabled the Spanning Tree and then set it to be controlled by the MM or would the spanning tree be re-enabled?

    Regards

    Grant

Are you SSH into the Mobility Controller(MD)?  If a Mobility controller is actually under control of the Mobillity Master (MM), this is what you should get on the commandline:

    (arubaMD) #configure t
This controller is managed by a Mobility Master.
Configuration changes can only be performed on the Mobility Master.

    You should type:

(arubaMD) #show switchinfo | begin switchrole

    switchrole:MD
    masterip:192.168.1.5

..to make sure your MD is indeed controlled by the MM..

You can go into disaster recovery mode and disable STP via CLI
