    Hi guys,

I did some lab work for VLAN mobility, and found VLAN mobility was totally useless.

    I set up 2 scenarios,

    1,single Controller ,single Vlan,two APs,one AP-group,one SSID profile

    One vlan.png

I connected to AP1 first, then shuted down AP1's interface, then the laptop automaticly connected to AP2, also the laptop was able to ping to the Controller.Even I turned off the vlan mobility, the result was the same.

2,single Controller, two Vlans, two APs, two AP-groups, one SSID profile

    Two vlans.jpg

I connected to AP1 first, then shuted down AP1's interface, then the laptap also was able to connect to AP2 automaticly, but this time laptop wasn't able to ping to the Controller.

Also even I turned off the vlan mobility, the laptop still wasn't able to ping to the Controller.

Is that just me or the vlan mobility is useless?

When you look at the client in the controller, is it changing VLANs or keeping the same one after a roam?

    1. You were not testing the vlan mobility feature.
    2. The scenario you are testing should work with no modifications.
    3. Try pinging the default gateway instead.

Thanks, I found why my vlan mobility didn't work.

I shouldn't shutdown the interface, because for vlan mobility the AP have to send the deauth packet first.

When I shutdown the interface, the AP will not send the deauth packet.
