Enable CDP on S2500-24T with OS7.2.1

    Anyone enabled CDP(Cisco Discovery Protocol) on S2500-24T with OS7.2.1 and connect to VMWare ESX host?

     

    I tried it to connect to Cisco 2960s and Cisco 7960 IP Phone.It worked fine when I "show lldp neighbor" I could see CDP neighbor on S2500-24T.

     

    But I config it to connnecto VMWare ESX host. The CDP neighbor is empty.

     

    Any Idea for this?

    You can read CDP packets on the mobility access switch but it does not generate then. Only Cisco devices can. Can the VMware device read LLDP data? It is very similar to CDP and is standards based.

    As Cappalli noted, the Mobility Access Switch will not transmit CDP frames only process received frames however the "show lldp neighbors" command will not show CDP neighbors. For that, you need the "show neighbor-devices" output.
