We would like guest users to fill out a form that requests their email address (to use for a newsletter).  Verifies their email and then gives them access to the guest wireless.  Once they have provided their email address we would like them to be able to authenticate automatically from then on so they don't have to go through the authentication process each time.  Does the 3600 controller running 5.0.3.0 have the capability to do this natively, or would this require an external captive portal server to gather the needed information?

For that functionality you would have to use Amigopod.  That would allow for the email verification as well as the storing of the email address, the time period that the guest account is usable for is definable so you would have controle over that.

Amigopod can handle the email registration and confirmation.  You will have to grab the MAC address (which Amigopod can also do for you) for the "permanent" registration.  If you use only email authentication, the controller will time-out every so often and the user will be forced back through the captive portal login.  If you grab the MAC address and then do MAC authetnication via Amigopod, the user wont have to authenticate until the registration expires.

Maybe Cam or one of the other Amigopod experts can shoot you a link to the setup guide for MAC registration and authentication.
