    Dear Experts

I am working on a project which has 2 controllers.

1 Controller is currently working in the production network having

    Switch Role: Master

Second controller is not currently in production, but i have to bring it to production environmenmt in couple of days and for that i need help from you people.

Help me in below queries as i am new to aruba

    1) I need to configure both the controllers in HA mode with Fast Fail over. I donot need VRRP in the network environment.

    2) I need to bring both the controllers in same cluster so changing in 1 controller replicates to the other controller.

    3) Licenses are only in 1st controller, how to centralised the licenses?

    4) Is Internoccetivity between the controllers required for HA or they will sync on their netwok?

Please guide the step by step procedure to add a second controller in production environemt.

Please guide the step by step configurations of HA with your recommendations.

Your immediate support is required in this matter.

    Hi!

Are you running AOS 6.x or 8.x?

In general, HA Fastfailover was only possible in a master local deployment.

If you want to build a cluster in AOS 8.x, you need a mobility master (appliance or VM) and two mobility controllers (appliance or VM).

If you only want to operate two controllers under 6.x, you can build a master/standby deployment or a master local deployment with HA Fastfailover.
If you want to use Centralized Lincensing with a primary and a backup licensing server you need VRRP.

If you operate 6.x (I guess because of the term HA fastfailover), google for aruba master redundency or master local setup , there are many youtube videos out like this:

There is also a HA fasfailover config guide:
    https://www.arubanetworks.com/techdocs/ArubaOS_63_Web_Help/Content/ArubaFrameStyles/VRRP/HighAvFastFailover.htm

If you google for master standby with arubaos 8 you will also find this.

    Hey!

I'm sorry, I read over that you operate alcatel branded contollers.
I have no experience with them, so my post is maybe incorrect.

But I think in AOS-W are similar deployment scenarios available.

    Sorry!

    Dear Expert

    Thanks for your reply.

Please guide me will the configuration sync on both the controllers? If a configure Master Standby setup, changes made in Master controller will replicate on Standby controller or not?

    Dear Expert

Please inform if Master controller goes down, how much time does Access point takes to join with Standby controller? What will be the overall effect on the internet & user traffic if master controller goes down? What will be the overall outage that user has to face when Master controller goes down?

It depends on the number of access points, the authentication method, the load on the AAA server, if there is authentication..
