    Hi,

Can we do Master - Local setup using 3400 & 7010 controller?

    Or suggest compatibale model/pair

    Thanks,

    Nik...

Yes, but the 3400 would have to be the master.

    Hi,

If we assigned highest priority to 7010 controller then will that be master?

I will place upto 20 AP 205 in my setup.

7010 has PEFNG, AP &  RFP license. what license need on other controller?

    Thanks,

    HI,

Here, let me understand couple things,

    1. Are you trying to bring up Master-Local with 3400 and 7010 ?

    2. What priority you are trying to configure in the 7010 ( are you trying to configure VRRP )?

    3. Are you trying to deploy HA in your network ?

Please clarify, I can help you on this.

    Hellow Dhanraj,

    I want to achieve wireless/ controller redundancy using 3400 & 7010 controller.

Controller redundancy configuration will be base on best practice i.e. VRRP / HA

    Thanks,

    Nik..

    Hi,

Here you need redundancy for AP termination, earlier we could achieve this by LMS and Bkp-LMS. now we can use HA ( High availability ) and it works as bellow,

A controller using this feature can have one of three high availability roles – active, standby or dual.

An active controller serves APs, but cannot act as a failover standby controller for any AP except the ones that it serves as active.

A standby controller acts as a failover backup controller, but cannot be configured as the primary controller for any AP.

A dual controller can support both roles, and acts as the active controller for one set of APs, and also acts as a standby controller for another set of APs.

Inorder to enable HA we don't need to configure VRRP, it is required for Controller redundancy ( Master-Standby)

Bottom line, as per my understanding, you are not trying to deploy the 7010 controller a Local controller (LMS). you can deploy the 7010 as a HA member, standby or dual. here you should consider the AP capacity when you are going to deploy it as either standalone or dual coz it should be able to handle APs when they fail over . it should have more capacity when it is deployed as dual coz it has to take care it's own APs and fail over APs.

Hope got some more clarity on this,

Please feel free for any further clarity on this.

    Hi friend,

We can bring up Master local with 3400 and 7010 but here 70XX (7010) series controller is a branch office controller hence we have to deploy any 70XX series controller as a local and 3400 as a Master.

Hope got some more clarity on this,
