    Hello All,

     

    If the device was initially connected to the 2.4GHz, there is no roaming trigger (e.g RSSI is good, no retries etc), but the device then "hears" 5GHz, the same SSID beacons with more less the same RSSI value  - will it switch to 5GHz or not?  I am not sure... There is no roaming trigger (unless the same SSID on 5GHz is another roaming criteria). l am not sure how the device will behave in this situation. 

     

    Do you guys know?

    It all depends on the client.  The individual client dictates roaming behavior.

    Understood. So even RSSI and cell condition from the client perspective is still good (acceptable), the client will decide to switch band or not. Just found a very good KB regarding the Apple devices roam desition:

     

    If the BSSID's RSSI is greater than -65 dBm, the iOS client prefers a 5 GHz network.
