When upgrading (6.4.2.2_46307) Aruba 7030 controller I got  a message:

"System has low free memory and/or low free disk space. Please delete unwanted files by accessing WebUI Maintenance > File > Delete Files, reload the controller to recover free memory and try uploading the image again. If it fails again, try other upgrade options."

Can anyone help me to delete existing filmware file from partition 1:?

This is piece of cake with 3000 series controllers.

Run tar logs tech-support and then delete the tar file in the flash. This will clean out old logs which can free up a lot of space.

Thanks for advise. It is a new installation and I think there are no so much logs. But I shall try this anyway.

This is whan can bee seen from console:

    WLC1) #show storage

Filesystem                Size      Used Available Use% Mounted on
    none                      2.0G      2.1M      2.0G   0% /tmp

    (FK-WLC1) #dir

There seems to be very much free memory available. The size of new firmware is 102.3 MB.

It may not be flash space that is the issue, it may be RAM. Can you issue "show memory"?

    Best regards,

I shall do that next site visit.

Mayby it is file transfer protocol (local file). I shall try ftp, scp or tftp from GUI and comman line.

    I suggest doing the following.

    tar crash
    delete filename crash.tar
    tar logs tech-support
    delete filename logs.tar
    delete filename <filename_you_want)

Reboot the controller and try again.

    Same issue here ;

    (XX) #show memory

Memory (Kb): total: 3022972, used: 811988, free: 2210984

    (XX) #show storage
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
    none 2.0G 1.6M 2.0G 0% /tmp
    /dev/usb/flash3 3.3G 138.5M 3.0G 4% /flash

It is a brand new 7030 controller , there is no configuration on it.Is there any workaround for this ?

your stats seem alright. there is always some default config files such as your startup-config, etc.

I got the same error message from the web GUI using local file when I tried to upgrade a 7030 from 6.4.1.0 to 6.4.2.3, but it worked fine from the CLI with TFTP.  It looks like this may be a web GUI bug.

    Thanks,

    Matt

    hi all

This is a known bug in 7030, it's fixed in 6.4.3.2 but in the meantime you can use the CLI to do the upgade. Specifically the message is false, there is plenty of free space, the calculation was broken in 7030 controllers only.

Affects the captive portal upload as well, refer to bug 105664 in the 6.4.2.3 release notes.
