How to set up controller to use Airplay

  • 1.  How to set up controller to use Airplay

    We just installed 2 Aruba controllers to manage APs in many remote schools. In these schools teachers use iPad and Apple TV. Unfortunately, Airplay feature does not work (Not available ) . No device is discovered . Yet Ipad and Apple TV are connected wirelessly to the same VLAN . The controller has been installed by a consultant so I look for options that would allow me to make it all work . The controllers are 7210 Version 6.4.2.3 . We do not use Clear Pass. Thank for your help.

    Are you dropping broadcast/multicast on the VirtualAP?   If you are, you can enable AirGroup:

    Hi, yeah we are dropping broadcast/multicast on the VirtualAP profile. And yes AirGroup is enable but we are still unable to view Airplay devices

    Some follow up questions:

     

    • Do you see "any" AppleTVs?    Are the users and AppleTVs on the same controller?
    • Are the AppleTVs wired or wireless?
    • What is the result of the following?  Do you see the AppleTVs and users?

    • No we don't see any Apple TV. 
    • We have 1 Apple TV wired and 2 wireless
    • Users and Apple TV are on the same controller

    BernP,

     

    What role do your AppleTvs and user get?  What is the output of "show rights <role>" for both?  It is quite possible that you are blocking airplay discovery packets in your role.

    The role that is assigned to Apple TV ad user are the same and here is the firewall polices:

     

    global-sacl/,apprf-Admin-CSDD-sacl/,allowall/

    Hi, 

     

    I see that Enforce Registration is enabled. If you are not using ClearPass, then this option has to be disabled. If Enforce Registration is enabled, then only the AppleTVs registered on ClearPass can be discovered. Try disabling Enforce Registration, and that should help. 

     

     

    (Controller) (config) #no airgroup cppm-server enforce-registration
