Wireless Access

I am setting up different Aruba local controllers throughout our organization.  I have setup the follwoing:

1.  2 x Virtual mobility masters (version 8.3.0.3)

2.  2 x Aruba 7030 controllers (version 8.3 in 1 location)

     a.  Someone else setup the controller out of the box.

     b.  I upgraded the 7030 devices from 8.0 to to 8.3.0.3

3.  2 x Aruba 7005 controllers (version 8.3 in 1 location)

     a.  The 7005 came with version 6.5 already installed.

     b.  I upgraded from 6.5 to verison 8.3.0.3

My questions are:

Q1.  If we purchae the 7010 controllers in April 2019, what version is installed from a new Aruba 7010, right out of the box?

     a.  Will they have verison 6.5 installed?  

Q2.  Will I require any different serial conneciton settings to connect to the 7010's console port to obtain command line access.

    a.  I am currnelty using Console Port settings: Baud Rate – 9600, Data Bits – 8, Parity – None, Stop Bits – 1, Flow Control – none.

Q3.  Do the Aruba 7010 controllers come with an external power source?  I have a power source for 7005 but, I am not sure if it will work for the 7010.

1. Not sure what version they have, but if they ship with 6.5, a quick upgrade to 8.3 would be needed, then you can default them and add them to the MM.

2. That should work on console settings

3. 7010 just needs the normal computer power cable, power supply is integrated inside the unit.

It appears that a power supply come siwth the unit.

It appears the console port settings that I staed should work according ot the document.  

I am just not sure abouyt the version that comes with the device.  If the devcie comes with a newer version, will I be able to downgrade it to 8.3.0.3?

Yes you can downgrade to whatever version you want.

For the 7005 controllers. WIll this work foe the 7010 controlelrs as well?  Or is that  question for support?

Regarding your second question, if I understand it correctly, you are looking for code for an Aruba 7210 hardware controller.

The code "ArubaInstant_Hercules_8.3.0.3_66538" will not work as this is only for instant AP's and VC's only.

You will require a code that ends in the prefix "72xx" for example "ArubaOS_72xx_8.4.0.0_68230"

This can be found at the above support URL under the "ArubaOS" file. For any Aruba controller, it will be under the "ArubaOS" file, not the "ArubaInstant" file.
