    Hi

I'd like to have the community point of view about the following.

I've installed several years ago AP-92 with external antenna 6dBI OMNI AP-ANT-2 in a warehouse. The installation does function very well so far. We will trigger to instant IAP-204. Selecting the external antenna, unfortunately the choice is now very limited in comparison the the matrix antenna in the past. The choice is now very basic on this type of installations: We may replace by AP-ANT-19 which is dual band with 3dBI on 2,4Ghz. In the other hand, the propagation and the way the antenna treats data is much more better than with old AP-92.

How do you think this would function on IAP204?

Any comment, suggestion will be very much appreciated.

    Thx

    EB

    Hi,

The AP-ANT-19 will function just fine with your IAP-204. Make sure you buy 2 antenna for each AP though. ;)

I know nothing of your deployment but, like you said, the AP-ANT-19 has a lower gain when opperating on 2.4GHz so will likely not trasmit the 2.4GHz signal quite as far as the AP-ANT-02.

You will have 5GHz radio as well though.

Probably a good idea to have a survey wireless survey to help with your planning, then another after deployment to validate your design works as planned.

    Cheers

    Hi James
Thanks son much d'or tour attention and comment.
    Just two additionnal questions

We have to put gain informations for each iap204: do you think we would cet a better wave power if we set a lower value for EXT antenna?

What will be the behaviour or protocole of EXT antennas coupled with iap204? Diversity ? Mimo? In other word will each EXT antenna receive and transmit and accept clients ?
    Thx again

    Hi Eb,

Not sure what you mean but essentially each antenna will be able to support wireless clients.

    Cheers

If deployed indoors, there should be enough multipath to support MIMO. If outdoors, you should manually polarize to decouple the antennas as much as possible (usually +/- 30 deg minimum).
