IAP-215 kind of died, can't convert to CAP.

    Mobility Controller 7205. Some 30 IAP-215 in CAP-mode. 6.5.4.2 software.

     

    I got reports that wifi-connectivity was down in one room, and I remembered that the AP had frozen a while back. This time it responded to ping, but was otherwise unusable and radio was down. I pulled the power, and after that it kept rebooting i a cycle of a few minutes.

     

    I replaced the AP, and tried resetting it. The AP is an IAP-model, so I could get into it again. After some fiddling about I realized that I was unable to convert it back to a CAP again as long as it has the same ip-address as before. Even when I deleted (cleared) the AP from the list in the controller.

     

    After configuring another IP-address for the AP I managed to get the AP to download a CAP-image from the controller, but now it has been sitting there with a blinking green power and booting for almost 20 minutes. It never shows up in the provisioning-list.

     

    Could there be something wrong with the AP, as in hardware-wise? I have converted a lot of AP's back and forth but this one seems strange and unwilling to perform.

     

    I got tired of waiting for it to boot, and pulled the plug. Now I'm back in the mode where I started. That is, it responds to a few (six) ping packets and the spontaniously reboots.

    It could be a possible hardware fault, have you been able to attach a console cable a record the output? If so could you post it here?

    Ip address conflict?  Check to see if you can still ping that ip address when the AP is down...
