Image size to large when connecting AP to controller

Hey!

Is there any way i can get my AP (325) to join my controller? It tries to update itself but complains about too large image, then cancels and reboots. This keeps going over and over

Licenses and everything is in check. Anyone know what to do?

Re: Image size to large when connecting AP to controller

What version of ArubaOS are you trying to upgrade to?  Do you have a console cable?

Re: Image size to large when connecting AP to controller

Im trying to upgrade to 8.6

I think the AP has 6.3 or something on it. And no unfortunately I don't have a console cable here. Could I fix with that?

Thanks for the answer!

If you get a console cable, we might be able to fix it with that...

Re: Image size to large when connecting AP to controller

Thanks all! I got hold of a console cable and fixed it today As simply as setting my tftp address and flash it. Lol. But how come this wasnt doable from the controller?

Re: Image size to large when connecting AP to controller

This has been seen on a few APs that mostly are on an old factory image (6.4.4 was mentioned once). First upgrading to a recent 6.5 would probably have helped as well to upgrade to 8.x after that without console access. With a few APs and console access, the flash from apboot probably is easier. It has more to do with the old firmware version, and 6.4 is pretty old, so you make a big jump going to 8.x.

Glad you solved it.
