Is there any way to know if an AP is CAP or IAP?

    Hi experts,

I have a customer which has many CAPs and we are planning to convert some CAPs to IAPs. Is there any way to know if those CAPs have the capacity of Instant? I mean when they were bought, if they were bought as CAP or IAP (and in the latter case then they were converted to CAPs). I mean if there is any way without looking at white sticker placed at the back of the APs. Is there any way to know this looking at the controller GUI? Or accessing the APs by SSH?

    Regards,

    Julián

Try "show ap image version" on the controller.  If the backup partition is an instant image, it is probably an instant AP.

Try running the show ap image version 2017-06-14 12_57_56-192.168.1.142_22 - Tera Term VT.png

I don't understand how that shows you it's an IAP.

Easy, what don't you understand? Victor Fabian clearly shows how to distinguish, just look at the picture.

So all IAP's are 6.5.0.0? All as I see is a version difference but I don't know if that is what defines it as an IAP, or is it some other part of the version reference.

I've attached the image again and enlarged. The main difference is the file name/image version which will help you identify if the AP is an AP or an IAP.

An AP image will generally only contain 4x characters such as 6.4.4.1.

An IAP image will have more characters after the '-' for example 6.5.0.0-4.3.0

Yeah, and this has changed for the latest UAPs. Try to see this post as well:
