L2 GRE tunnel issue in Master / standby setup

    We are having master/backup master scenaria where AP's are terminating. We are running VRRP between these two controller. And we have Guest controller located in DMZ zone. We are tunneling our wireless trafic to Guest controller using L2GRE tunnel.

     

    We built GRE tunnel using VRRP ip address as destination in guest controller. When the master controller is acting as Vrrp master , then all the things are working as expected. When we switch over to other controller as master , clients are not able to connect. We could able to see the tunnel is active and we can able to ping the user vlan ip address defined in the controller.

    When we done te packet capture , the controller is not sending any GRE traffic towards the SMZ controller. Any idea  on this?

    Can you please post a network diagram, in addition to the GRE tunnel configuration of all devices in question?

    HI,

     

    You have to create two separate GRE tunnels terminating on both the controllers over the controller IP address ( not on the virtual IP).

     

    Please feel free for any further help on this.

    We raised TAC case, and we found the problem with GRE striping IP address.

    Below is the article which says we need to use VRRP instance for LACP striping ip also ,

    And we have established L2 GRE tunnel using VRRP ip in master/backup master environment.
