just some questions about the LMS IP.

Assuming we have one mobility controller with the following VLAN/ IPs:

loopback: 192.168.1.6

vlan 2: 192.168.1.5/24 (default gateway 192.168.1.1)

vlan 3: 192.168.6.1/24 (local network only, not routed)

• Does the switch-ip (either configured for vlan-2 or loopback) has any implications on the lms ip which has to be configured on APs? If yes, why, what are the technical backgrounds?
• Is it possible to connect APs on layer 2 in vlan 3? Assuming there's running a dhcp server and adp, would the controller give out the vlan-3 ip address via adp in order the APs can connect directly to it or does the controller give out the switch-ip in every case and traffic has to be routed?

The switch ip or the loopback needs to be routable to whatever network the access point is on.  If the LMS-IP is different from the loopback, the client will be redirected to and communicate with the loopback, after first contacting the LMS-IP address.  The access points can be in the VLAN3 network, but will communicate with the loopback address, so the loopback address should be routable to VLAN3.

If the access  get an ip address in VLAN3 and discovers the controller in VLAN3 using multicast, it will be redirected to and communicate with the loopback after discovery.

The controller will ultimately give out the switch-ip or loopback upon discovery.

So, in every case the Ap will be redirected to the Switch IP?

In case of the Switch IP is configured for vlan-2 APs will be redirected to 192.168.1.5 and in case of the Switch IP is configured for loopback the APs will be redirected to 192.168.1.6?
