Lenovo N21 802.11ac

    We have a number of Lenovo N21 Chromebooks. 802.11ac during our online testing, devices which are all in the same room as the AP they are connnected to, AP-215.  Their speeds are around 6-7 MB.  Any thoughts as to why they top out there?

     

    The devices that aren't in the screenshot below are different devices models and only capable of N 40 MHz.

    Do you have other APs in the vicinity using 5 Ghz ?

    Are you using DFS channels ?

    You should take a look at how your AP channel utilization and co-channel interference in the controller dashboard ?

    Here is what I see in the Dashboard where the devices are connected.  To me nothing looks too out of the ordinary.  Especially the AP with 29 devices connected.

     

    I'm not sure I'm familiar with DFS Channels or how to enable or configure it.

    Unfortunately, that client moved away from that access point so the data is not reflected in your output.  The "speed" is just a snaphot in time and quite a few of the devices are in Power Save mode, so their "speed" will not indicate a device that is actually sending tons of data.  You should get ahold of one of those devices and do a test in your lab to make sure things are okay.  The "speed" number indicates a snapshot of the device rate, and is only a single component of what is used to troubleshoot devices.  It is not the overall speed over the lifetime of a device.

    In addition, that specific client is not sending any traffic: "Client Bandwidth Rate = 0"  Client Retries, Client Error rate are also 0, so even though the client is not sending traffic, it is also not having any specific issues:

    Please also know that the statistics in the "show ap association client-mac" command is updated at most once/minute, but the lack of errors means that there are no wifi issues seen on this association.
