    Hello Dears,

Is it possible to limit the number of associated UE's per a standalone AP? Meaning not connected to a controller, and no AirWave installed..

Reason is we want to limit them to 60 ~ 80 UE's per Outdoor AP, and the controller & AirWave will be installed later on.

The used AP is the outdoor AP-270, (Not the instant model).

    Thanks.

    Hello Cappalli,

UE is User Equipment = Subscriber associated to an AP

I think he means UserEndpoint. But how to install a AP-27x (no instant) as standalone AP? Not possible as far as I see it.
Perhaps use the IAP version and then limit the user amount per SSID.

For OP, a controller is required before deploying any (non-IAP) AP-270s. At which point you can then set a limit on the number of users per radio.

Thanks jhoward, I have some queries please:

Do you mean the controller here for (non-IAP) is mandatory to operate? Or this is to be able to limit number of users per Radio?

    The wanted scenario is:

    > 1-3 Mesh Clustered Outdoor (non-IAP) AP's will connect with EoGRE to a WiFi Mobility Gateway, as follows (Mesh AP's <(EoGRE)> TWG <> GW Router <> Firewall <> Internet)

    > This is only for Pilot Phase, but final one will have a Controller installed.

    > Limit the number of users per AP to ~ 60 for 2.4GHz (5 GHz will be used for backhauling).

    Thanks.

Yes. You need a controller for them to operate.

I need more clarification for separate points:

    > As per my understanding they can operate with (non-IAP) and without controller, if no limitation is required for number of subscribers.

    > But to limit number of users, this will require Instant AP or a controller.

    Thanks.

No, if it's a regular AP (non-Instant), you need a controller.

You can limit the number of associated clients on both Instant and controller.
