    Hi guys,

    Another interesting one from me.

Im looking to be able to track which AP's a client has been connected to during the course of the day.

If I go into the dashboard - > clients I can see which AP a client is currently connected to including all the performance data. But I cant seem to track which AP's that client has been connected to previously that day.

    Is this possible at all?

    Do you have Airwave ?
It can provide great historical data what AP a device it's has connected to .

If you don't you could go through the logs on the controller and track the association events for a particular MAC address but it may be a bit of challenge sometimes since you have to through a lot of data but its doable

    Hi Victor,

thanks for such a quick response.

I don't have Airwave no, is that a software title?

I have the logs here, but I have no idea which file to look in, there are tones.

Any advice would be greatly received.

    Many thanks

This is a snapshot from our Airwave server , this is the association history from my iPhone

The controller maintains limited data for graphing, while AirWave (the network management software for Aruba) is designed to maintain data for trending analysis, reporting, and troubleshooting.  Other added benefits from AirWave: better visibility of network behavior, a single point for making/testing/rolling out configuration changes, event driven alerts, user location tracking (VisualRF), a more flexible classification system for rogue AP intrusion/detection (RAPIDS), and several other tools meant to tackle proactive and reactive client experience troubleshooting.  Check with your Sales Rep to see a demo or get an evaluation copy of AirWave.

Is there a way or has anyone had luck sending such data to splunk?  I know I can see it in airwave but I have a need for the data to be available in splunk.

Hey Raymond! Yes there is. I've built an add-on for splunk to extract all the fields in the logs that is available in splunkbase. Its just a matter of sending aruba logs via syslog to splunk. I'm currently working on to support logs in CEF format.
