MAC authentication failures

    Hi,

I am experiencing mac authentication failures with the following log message:

    Jun 25 12:35:12  authmgr[1836]: <522049> <INFO> |authmgr|  MAC=ac:81:12:03:b0:70,IP=169.254.228.79 User role updated, existing Role=ap-role/ap-role, new Role=ap-role/ap-role, reason=User not authenticated for inheriting attributes

We are using an external RADIUS server for authentication and are successfully authenticating via 802.1x on a seperate SSID. Also we have a third SSID for mac-authh using the controllers internal DB successully. The controller was successfully authenticating mac-auth to the external RADIUS box at one time, and nothing has changed on the radius or controller either. The only recent change to the master controller that may have affected things was a PEFNG license was applied then removed as it was not present on the Local controller. Could this have effected the AAA profile, even though it has reverted back to its original state?

Please can I request some assistance?

    Thanks,

    Vik

Make sure you only have a mac authentication profile in the AAA profiles that you want.

    Hi,

Yes, we only have MAC auth configured in the AAA profile and are NOT doing mixed mode authentication on the MAC-auth SSID.

    Thanks,

Check the other AAA profiles and make sure you do NOT have mac authentication profile enabled for those.

    Hi,

I have checked the other AAA profiles and confirm that the mac auth profile is not enabled on them.

    Thanks,

    Sorry,

That is not a mac authentication failure message.
