    original setup

vlan 1 wired hosts and WAP devices

    vlan student - student wireless

    vlan staff - staff wireless

at this point everyone can multicast everywhere

    new setup

    vlan 1 wired hosts

    vlan management - WAP devices

    vlan student - student wireless

    vlan staff - staff wireless

    WLAN to WLAN multicasting works

LAN to WLAN multicasting is broken.

    We use instant controllers.

The only thing that has changed is the IP and VLAN for the physical WAP

all other devices are still on the proper VLAN.

ip igmp is enabled on all VLANs

all VLANs can ping all other VLANs

    What am I missing?

    Hi Stephen,

Is vlan 1 (wired hosts) trunked to the IAP ?

What kind of multicast traffic/application is being used ?

No VLAN 1 is not trunked to the WAPs.  This is Chromecast data.  The wired devices can no longer see the Chromecasts.  I would expect the data to be routed off of VLAN 1 at the router.

Is Chromecast discovery the only "multicast" that's not working from LAN to WLAN? Typically, the mDNS discovery is not routable and needs some kind of proxy to work across routed VLANs. Since the Instant cluster does have visibility to VLAN1, it can't provide that proxy for WLAN users. If you connect a wired client to your WLAN VLAN, is it able to see the Chromecast devices on VLAN1?

I moving a computer with Wireshark from VLAN to VLAN and doing packet capture.  I looks like that WAP is treating the multicast traffic as untagged.  Both SSIDs have thier own VLAN, and other traffic is being tagged correctly.  I will know more after I disect the captures.
