Master-local with aruba 7030 and 3400

    Hi,community .

    I get two aruba  7030 use vrrp ha mode in HQ,the remote site offcie only get aruba 3400 ,i wana use Master - Local mode in these controller ,Is there any possible use 7030 as Master ?3400 as local ?i search in aruba community ,someone says in above situation ,3400 must be Master and 7030 must be local .Is there any clarify by aruba offical ?

    What version of AOS are you planning to deploy?

    the version is 6.4.4.16_61809 ,If different version may make different model ,please also advice ,many thanks

    Hi, this will work. Just a reminder that your environment will be restricted to ArubaOS 6.4 as the 3400 is limited to this release. Take a look below at the EOL announcement.

    Do you mean in master local mode ,the 3400 can deployed as local ,7030 as master ?

    In the 6.x software, the 7030 is not recommended to serve in the master role. The software may allow it, but this is an unsupported configuration.

     

    In 8.x software, the 7030 can operate in the Master Controller Mode (MCM), however as described above the 3400 series controllers do not support AOS 8.x.

     

    The recommended configuration with 6.4 would be to have the 3400 function as the master, and the 7030 to be local.
