If customer have purchased 200 APs and MC-VA-250, i recall having the discussion that we can spin up two ( or more) VMCs for redundancy with both sharing the same overall capacity/license (i.e. 250 in this case). 

 

Can somone shed more light on it? 

 

As long as you have centralised licensing enabled, if you have 200 licenses and 200 AP's, when one the controllers goes down, the other one will take over the reamining APs and you have to be carefull that the controller is able to support those many access points.

Its not about centralized licensing. I am asking about VMC licenses.

You don't need to purchase multiple Aruba-MC-VA. you can share AP/PEFNG/RFP...etc  between them as an active-standby mode.

I think i am not able to clarify my question.

If i buy 1 x MC-VA-250, can i run 2 or more VMs using same license? i am
not talking about AP/PEF etc

yes you can..

So when i generate the license, i have to use the passphrase which will be
different if i have second VM. So how will i install the license in second
vm?

Create License Pool in VMM/HMM then install VMC as Managed Device.

 

oh ok, so MM is must in this case?

So  MC-VA license share only available in MM base in OS8.x Architecture.
