Multizone limitation question

Hi,

I got a question about following MZ limitation, which is unclear to me:

All the zones can have a maximum of 12 managed devices and 16 VAPs per radio and a maximum of 5 zones are supported including the primary zone.

Is this a global limitation or a local limitation?

Meaning: I got 20 sites (each with their own cluster of 2 MD's + seperate standalone DZ controller). All 20 clusters are connected to the same MM. All 20 DZ controllers are connected to another MM/MCM. DZ traffic should stay within their site.

Is this supported or does this count towards the 12 MD / 5 zone limitation?

Re: Multizone limitation question

Below are the limitations/Caveats of multi-zone APs in 8.x code.

1. There are should be same AOS version in all zones.

2. AP-GROUP and AP-NAME should be same in Data Zones as Primary Zone.

3. CPSEC is enabled.

4. Primary and Data Zones Managed Devices cannot run from same MM.

5. Multi-zone features are not supported on X86 Mobility Controllers.

6. There could be Max of 5 zones (1 primary + 4 Data).

7. Max of 12 controllers for all zones.

8. Max of 16 VAPs per radio for all zones.

9. Mesh, RAP not supported.

10.  AP-9x is not supported

So u have 20 clusters , each one is a primery zone for each site.

Your data zone is your dmz local on each site.

So each site in your topology is 2 controllers + 1 controller (2 = cluster = primary and 1 data zone = 1 controller. )

So you are ok. U have less than 12 controllers in each Zone ( totally u will have 20 primary and 20 data zone , each zone built from 3 controllers. )

Regards.

Re: Multizone limitation question

Is there an upper limit on how many zones I can have? Assume if I got an fully loaded MM-5K (with 500 MD), I could in theory have 250 zones if all MD's are in clusters of 2 MD's and my DZ MM/MDM has 250 isolated MD's?

Re: Multizone limitation question

I understand your question , Does your MM will support 500 Zones

(250PrimaryZones + 250 DataZone , *one for each site)

*Built from 2MD's in cluster PrimaryZone + 1 MD DataZone

I was looking for maximum Zones u can create on ArubaOS8..But the only role that i found is that your each Zone can be built with up to

12 MD's (Clustering isnt effecting the counting )

There could be Max of 5 zones (1 primary + 4 Data).

Max of 16 VAPs per radio for all zones.
