    Hi All,

I've got some AP225s which I'm unable to get any output from the console port. FYI I am powering it on and have tested on a few different APs.

If I unplug my serial cable from the AP and patch it into a controller I can get console access to the controller, so I know the cable works and the setting appear correct,

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

    James

    jrwhitehead,

    Those are correct parameters.

Has the serial port on the AP225 ever worked for you in the past? What is the current adapter and what type cable are you using?

It has never worked with my current computer. (Surface Pro 3)

It's a HL-340 USB to RS232 Serial Port Adapter with an Aruba serial to RJ45 connector and a cat5 cable.

    I've got;

2 x usb to serial adapters

    2 x serial to RJ45 cables

    1 x serial to RJ45 connector

    lots of cat5 cables

I've tested various combinations of the above to no avail. Also tested on another laptop and other APs.

    Check your AP System Profile:

    (Aruba-Master) (config) #ap system-profile "default"
(Aruba-Master) (AP system profile "default") #console-enable

The APs brand new and have never contacted the controller. They're on a VLAN with no DHCP and I need to configure 1 manually to test the solution.

    JrWhitehead,

You said you have never been able to bring up a console on AP225s, period, or is it just the new ones exhibiting the problem? It could be a hardware issue.

I've got an AP225 at home and I can't access the serial port on that. Also have 25 AP225s on an install I'm doing which I can't access the serial port on.

All my serial cables work on controllers but not on the APs.

Are you using the same laptop?

No. I've tested with 2 different laptops.

I think we should open this up to anyone who has NOT been able to console into an AP225.

    Jrwhitehead,

I just checked with a product manager who exclusively uses a surface pro 3 and he regularly connects to the console of AP225s successfully.  You might want to RMA one of those access points to see if you have a bad batch.

I've got an AP225 at home in my lab which I'm getting the same result on. E.g. console access work to my lab 7010 controller but I get no output when moving the cable to the console port on my AP225.

I've tested this with my personal laptop and get the same result.

It would be a huge coincidence if my lab AP was from the same batch as the ones I've just installed for a customer.

As nobody else has chipped in I'm assuming everyone else can access the console port on their AP-225-RW?

    Cheers

    James

You should open a TAC case, because this problem could be hardware specific or, you have your terminal configured wrong.
