Not possible to block youtube traffic from youtube app in Instant

    Hi guys,

     

    I am trying to block youtube traffic on my Instant AP. I was able to block youtube traffic just selecting youtube from the services drop down menu, although this only works for youtube traffic from www.youtube.com.

    When I open my youtube app I can see videos as always. I have added two more rules, streaming from application-category and streaming-media from web-category, but I can still see videos from the youtube app.

    Is there anyway to block traffic from this app? I am running InstantOS 6.4.4.8-4.2.4.3_56707. Many thanks in advance.

    That worked for me, youtube app will simply not play the videos.

    I have not tried it on that version of firmware you mentioned though.

    I suggest opening a tac case

    Hi Pasquale,

     

    Did you try with the three rules simultaneously or just with youtube from services?

    What InstantOS version did you try on?

    it was a while back to be honest and I believe i was in the 4.2.1 code train..

    I do not recall enabling the other two but i cannot be sure.

    I can attempt to re-test when i find some time.

    Hi Julián,

    I was able to test using an IAP-103 with standard software release version: ArubaInstant_Pegasus_6.4.4.8-4.2.4.6_58505

    The behavior on a laptop is the video will not play (website loads)

    The behavior on a smartphone with the Youtube app is like you described, the videos play.

    My ACL on my IAP looks as follows:

    all dhcp to all
    deny application youtubeeducation to all
    deny application youtube to all
    allow all

    If I add deny streaming to all above both youtube ACLs, it still allows me to stream youtube from the APP.

    I suggest you open a TAC case.

    I suggest you to upgrade to the last InstantOS version. If the problem persists then you might open a TAC case.
