Was having probs getting port channel up and running between a CatOS 6500 and 7220, until I found this archived thread:

    http://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/ArubaOS-and-Controllers/EtherChannel-between-Aruba-and-Cisco-switch/m-p/438/highlight/true#M45

Just wanted to confrim that Aruba doesnt natively support PagP (being a cisoc propriety protocol), and therfore the advice in the thread is correct.  Being that I did confirm that "mode on" was the only setting that would work, this sort of answers the question!

I have ensured spanning tree has been disabled on the 7220 at both the interface and port channel levels.

    Correct, PAgP is Cisco proprietary.

Mode ON creates a static port-channel. You may want to consider using LACP.
