Is it possible to downgrade the firmware version of the ap 303 through the cli/webinterface from 8.3.0.0 to ArubaInstant_Ursa_6.5.4.12_68901. I receive invalid image file when i try to do this through the web interface

    Downgrade AP firmware.PNG.

Download the Aruba.sha256 file in the same folder and do an MD5sum calculation on the image to make sure it matches.

    Already try MD5 checksum with output like this;

    MD5 hash of ArubaInstant_Ursa_6.5.4.11_68542:
    fb0d5917cfe86f485b2be47d2bf9dc67
    CertUtil: -hashfile command completed successfully.

But still can't downgrade from ver 8.3.0.6, with error invalid image file

Hello, I have the exact same issue downgrading from 8.6.0.5 to 6.5.4.11

I tried to tftp from the cli: it didn't downgrade for unknow reason. No log, no message nothing... And the image stayed at 8.6

I tried from Http: and I had the invalid image message

I must write that the http source download field specify "ursa" so I'm pretty sure my file is alright (since it specifies ursa in the filename and I got it from the Aruba software download website) .

    ----

BTW, if you would give firmware upgrd to IAP 105 which is half of our 300+ access points, I wouldn't have to struggle with this. This original post is 1year + old and I do not get why it is written as "solved".

Also, on a side point, can you please do something with you auto translation? It is not good at all since it auto translates technical terms with poor acuracy.

Additionaly It is impossible to deactivate the feature... it is very disturbing to be pranked all the time by this almost understandable translation bot

SSH into the Virtual Controller and type "show log upgrade" to see if you can see the error.

What are the exact filename that you are using for this operation?

How many different types of APS are in your cluster and what are their models?

Other people have complained about auto translate.  Please send an email to airheadssupport@hpe.com so they can hear directly from you.

    Thanks for the fast answer.

Here is the result of "sh log upgrade":

    sh log upgrade
    ----------Download log start----------
    download log not available
    ----------Download log end------------
    Download status: incomplete
    ----------Upgrade log start----------
    upgrade log not available
    ----------Upgrade log end------------
Upgrade status: upgrade status not available

the exact filename is (extension included) : ArubaInstant_Ursa_6.5.4.11_68542

    --------------

As for our cluster there is 2 types that are IAP 103 and IAP 203.

    hopefully, soon IAP 303

As far as I saw, there is no new pegasus firmware for IAP 100 series

    -------

thks for the hint about translation I'll report to the support

Take a look at the datasheet, the minimum supported firmware for an AP303 is ArubaOS & Aruba InstantOS 8.3.0.0.

The AP-303 requires 8.3.0.0 software and above according to its datasheet here:  https://www.arubanetworks.com/assets/ds/DS_AP303Series.pdf  That means it cannot be part of a cluster with any IAP that does not run 8.3.0.0 and above, so you cannot upgrade a cluster with 100 series APs to run with the 303, unfortunately.  You also cannot downgrade the AP303 to 6.5.4.11, because there is no support for it.

6.5 firmware is available on ASP. Why does it exist, if it cannot be used? I have a customer who needs to add an AP-303 to an IAP-205 cluster.
