    Hi

How Aruba support Quality of Service (QOS) within Access Point to Controller?

At a very high level, any traffic from the wireless client needing to be prioritized is sent with the appropriate DSCP values in the packet header to the controller.  In this case, in the GRE packet, the QoS tags would be present from AP to controller for the client session where QoS is triggered.

    From the 802.11n VRD - http://www.arubanetworks.com/vrd/80211nNetworksVRD/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm

    LAN Edge and Core

The LAN that is between the AP and the mobility controller must recognize and prioritize DCSP-marked traffic through the network. When in tunnel or decrypt-tunnel mode, the AP translates WMM marks into DSCP marks and places them in the GRE header so that the intervening network properly prioritizes traffic. Similarly, the core must respect the QoS marks from the mobility controller to the multimedia servers.

It is critical that all devices in the network be capable of and configured for QoS support. Switches and the multimedia servers themselves should mark traffic appropriately. Failure to ensure end-to-end prioritization can result in unpredictable performance for these applications.

    hi Seth

how about cases where GRE tunnel been encapsulate to IPsec tunnel. Does the DSCP tag still able to be show on each packet?

is there any limitations on number of QOS? how many qos can be tagged?

    Hi

The explaination is on connection AP to AC in LAN environment.

but how if the AP to AC via metro-ethernet layer where the packets flow to few hops before reach the controller? my curiosity is if hop is able to have the QOS? but does it able to recognize the QOS of encapsulated packets in GRE/IPsec tunnel between AP to AC?

    appreciate your thoughts
