This is probably a very simple question, I just want to ask it incase I'm incorrect. The guy before me that was handling upgrades to our Aruba controllers (both masters) always performed upgrades to the controller on one of the partitions. So currently both controllers have one partition at 6.1.3.4 and the second partition on 3.3.2.

The release notes mention several times to only make a jump to 6.2 if you're on 6.1. Does this mean I won't be able to upgrade my second partition without brining it up to 6.1 first or can I make the jump to 6.2 since it's the second partition. I'm just unsure what part of the upgrade process requires 6.1.

If you already got your Controller in 6.1.3.4 and thats your default partition, that that means that you are upgrading from 6.1.3.4 to 6.2.x

It has nothing to do with the other partition with is not the defaut one.

When you finish upgrading you will have one partition on 6.1.3.4 and the other on 6.2.x(Which will be the default one)

I dont know if that is what you were asking for?

You need to upgrade the parition which isn't the **Default boot** parition to 6.2

So in this example, I would upgrade parition 0:1 (/dev/hda2) and then reboot into this parition :

#boot system partition 1

I think the question is if we have 2 partitions, one running 6.1.3.4 which is currently the default boot partition and another running 3.3.2, do we have to upgrade in steps or can it done all at once? See below for visual:

3.3.2 -->3.4.5.1--->6.2

or

3.3.2---->6.2

Again this would be on the non default boot partition. We are in the process of preparing to move to 6.2 since its GA release and I have had the same question.

Note: In order to upgrade 3200 these need a memory upgrade (not sure if this applies to you but just in case)

You'll need to follow the path below :

- For ArubaOS 3.x.versions earlier than ArubaOS 3.4.4.1, download the latest version of ArubaOS
3.4.5.x.

-  For ArubaOS RN-3.x or ArubaOS 5.0.x versions earlier than ArubaOS 5.0.3.1, download the latest
version of ArubaOS 5.0.4.x.

So yes,

3.3.2 -->3.4.5.1--->6.2

Well it sounds like the the main partition is 6.1.x then I'm able to perform the upgrade to 6.2 by upgrading the 3.x partition, Correct?

Yes - if you are running 6.1 (in which case it should be the default partition) you would upgrade the other partition (3.x in your case). Then once the other partition is upgraded to 6.2 and once it's the default, a reboot will bring you to version 6.2

OK, related question:

I have primary partition 6.1 and secondary 3.3.

Can I upgrade primary to 6.2 and then hardcopy it to second partition with command

"copy system: partition 0 1"

I'm concernd about partiotion resizing during 3.X->5.X>6.X upgrades.
