Questions regarding Cellular Handoff Assist

We are trying to make the process for clients leaving our buildings switching to their 3G/4G provider more efficient so I am looking at the possibility of enabling this feature and can't find any detailed information in the UG.

The only configuration I can find is to turn the feature on or off. Is it just that simple?

Does cellular-handoff-assist require me to set some thresholds such as a minimum RSSI value? If so where is the related value. Is it the same as the value used for the other handoff-assist?

Are there any caveats I should be aware of?

    7240 Controllers running AOS 6.4.4.8

The bulk of my APs are AP105 with a small percentage of AP205 and AP325.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Cellular Hand-off assist feature works on the top of our ARM client-match feature. This needs to be enabeld only based on specific deployments when cllients connected to edge AP`s.

Yes; enabling on VAP profile will help to turn on/off the feature. Client match Sticky Min signal is the value to kick in the CHA feature; we could increase or decrease the value based on the requirement however i would recommend to discuss this with TAC before we enable or doing any config changes on the controller.

Client Match Sticky Min Signal                                               65

Client Match Steering Timeout (sec)                                          10

    (sri-7240-xm) #show wlan virtual-ap default

    Virtual AP profile "default"

    ----------------------------

    Parameter                                       Value

    ---------                                       -----

    AAA Profile                                     default

    802.11K Profile                                 default

    Hotspot 2.0 Profile                             N/A

    SSID Profile                                    default

    Virtual AP enable                               Enabled

    VLAN                                            N/A

    Forward mode                                    tunnel

    Allowed band                                    all

    Band Steering                                   Disabled

    Cellular handoff assist                         Disabled

    Thank you,

    Sriram

    Thanks Sriram.

Is Client Match enabled in the vap-profile under AOS 6.4.4.8?

I was under the impression that it was enabled in the arm-profile.

I also read that in AOS 5.0.0.0 this would be moved to the ap-group.

    I have client-match enabled in my arm-profile.

Does this mean that if I enable cellular-handoff-assist the same values you mentioned earlier will be applied?

Client Match Sticky Min Signal                                               65

Client Match Steering Timeout (sec)                                      10

If these are default values, they would suit our purposes as they are.

Yes. Client match is enabled on ARM profile and Cellular hand-off assist is enabled on VAP profile.

Below are the default values as you had stated and if this suits you, we are good to go and same values will be applied.

Client Match Sticky Min Signal                                               65

Client Match Steering Timeout (sec)                                      10

    Thank you,

How do I turn on cellular-handoff-assist from within the vap?

The only place I can see to enable it in 6.4.4.8 is the check box right next to the one for client Match in the arm profile.

    rf arm-profile "optimized-g-arm-profile"
      cellular-handoff-assist

    Am I missing something?

yes on 6.4.4.x code we got to enable/disable on arm profile. From 6.5 code all you have to do is enable/disable on Virtual AP profile.

In our case, you need to go ahead and disable it from arm-profile. Just say "no cellular-handoff-assist" that should do.

    Thank you,
