Quick RAP question

    I've never tried it so thought I'd ask a quick question......

     

    Can a RAP-5 also be a mesh portal?

     

    Customer has a working RAP-5 that broadcasts a secure tunneled SSID and a Split tunnel SSID that bridges guest users on their internet connection. They are now wanting to add just a couple AP's to get more coverage and would like to use MESH instead of running cable and buying a POE switch.

     

    Anyone ever try that?

    A RAP-5 has a single radio - if it providing MESH services can it provide SSID services at the same time on the same radio?

    You could in theory, but you would separate client and mesh radios for performance reasons.
