    Can we have master/backup master controllers in active/active mode with VRRP ?

    You can only have two masters in active/passive.  You can configure one as a master and the other controller as a local and then you can have active/active.  Please take a look at http://www.arubanetworks.com/technology/reference-design-guides/ and download/look at the document "Campus Network Design Version 8" for an explanation about redundancy.
