Speed issue with AP93

    Hi there.

    We've encountered the following issue:

    Controller has ArubaOS 6.1.

AP93 is located about 10 meters from the laptop( laptop sitting inside the room), AP broadcasting on channel 6, and

the speed on the laptop dropped to 1 Mbps, although the "signal quality" shows a good 3-5 green bars.

Then we replace the AP93 in AP105 (AP and laptop in the exact same spot, AP on same channel 6), and

we get a good speed, around 15-17 Mbps.

There is some cellular/3G repeaters around the AP, and they may be the trigger for that issue,

but we don't see a clear evidence to that in the spectrum analyzer. Anyway, AP105 works perfect,

so whatever the trigger is, it does not have any effect on AP105.

    Any ideas?

Please look at the top 10 tips from Aruba TAC here:  http://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/Community-Knowledge-Base/Top-10-Tips-from-Aruba-TAC/ta-p/29414

    - How many WLANs (SSIDs) are you broadcasting? - (over 4 could degrade performance)

    - Do they all have "drop broadcast and multicast" enabled? - (improves performance)

    - Do your WLAN clients share a layer 2 subnet with wired traffic? - (can really degrade performance)

    Hey.

    Thanks for your reply.

The main issue is that in AP105  there is no problem at all, so i don't see how

those good tips are relevant for this case.

it must be something related to the AP105 vs AP93.

The AP105 has dual bands, and the AP93 has only a single band.

If 10 clients are connected to the AP93, they are all sharing a single band.  If 10 clients are connected to the AP105, some could be on both bands, giving better performance, because fewer clients are sharing traffic on a band.  That is only one factor.  Do you have "drop broadcasts enabled"?

The links I sent before go into a number of factors that could be causing performance issues, because I do not know about your environment.

If you want immediate help for this, it is best to open a TAC case.  On the forum, we have to ask a number of things to that contribute to the problem get to the bottom of the issue and it can be very time-consuming.
