Hi.

I have a S2500 that also acts as our Primary Router and another S2500 that will be uplinked to the Router soon, in the same closet, though just as a standard switch.

I just received some fiber to run as our backbone, so I plugged a SFP into a SFP port on the router and also on the second S2500, so they could then communicate. I wanted to test to see if I had to configure anything to get the fiber to work, once I ran it.

I searched in vain for data on how to connect a fiber backbone, but all I could find was stuff on stacking, so I assume Aruba uses stacking when connecting a fiber backbone?

Anyway, the problem is when I unplugged the SFP from the main router all ports on the router went black and the network was dead, though the router was still running.

I plugged the SFP and fiber back in to the original ports and the router ports lit up and all is well.

Problem is, I don't want the second S2500 to be connected to the router via that fiber.

My main question is; How can I undo what I did?

And, not as important, how do I uplink my two closets via fiber? Is it through stacking?

Also, I just disabled the split detection via the GUI. Hopefully, that
prevents the router from going dark on secondary shutdown.

OK...so if port 1/3 is in use and active, that is acting as a stacking port on the Aruba switch.  Is port 0 or 1 avaialble?  If so, you can just use those as a normal switch interconnect/uplink like any other port on the switch.

OK. Good.
But, how do I remove these two switches from being stack members?
My Router is reading as Secondary when I plug in the other S2500, but it
then says Primary when I unplug the other switch. Wow, I dug myself in this
time.lol

OK...on the second unit, issue this command after it's been removed from the stack...

You can also do this to use ports 1/2 and 1/3 as regular uplinks...this will remove them from being "stack" ports..

delete stacking interface stack 1/2

Thank you. I will issue that command to gladly get rid of them. But, how do
I remove the switch from the stack? I deleted it from via the GUI, under
configuration, stacking, but I can only communicate with it via the
routers' IP.
